What is an MA dissertation / Thesis?

Writing a thesis or dissertation is a part of a university degree. In some Universities/Institutes writing a dissertation is the precondition of gaining an MA degree. Some Universities offer thesis/dissertation only to the brighter students and as optional. For writing an MA thesis/dissertation students usually choose an area/topic where there is already some research work. It is the credit of the students to add to their individual thoughts to the available knowledge/study that they explore. In fact, the objective of this dissertation course is to engage the students in activities that need intellectual inquiry, sharp argumentation and scholarship. The students must follow a systematic way and guidelines to complete their writings within a time framework. For completing an MA dissertation students usually get 4 to 6 months time.
